ECHOES’ mission is to set up the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH), a shared platform designed to facilitate collaboration among heritage professionals and researchers, enabling them to modernise their workflows and processes. This platform will offer access to data, cutting-edge scientific and training resources, and advanced digital tools, all developed collaboratively by the heritage community to meet their specific requirements.
ECHOES is built around four main pillars, plus a cross-cutting pillar.
The Communities Pillar focuses on building and organising the ECCCH community by leveraging the various sectors of Cultural Heritage (CH) and providing essential training to adopt Digital Commons.
Knowledge and Innovation Pillars address the cloud’s technical framework with a holistic, distributed approach to benefit all stakeholders. The Knowledge Pillar is responsible for creating the cloud infrastructure and organising knowledge, while the Innovation Pillar handles the development of cloud applications and evaluating the digital ecosystem.
The Sustainability Pillar aims to establish a legal entity to ensure the cloud’s economic, social, and environmental sustainability, securing its leadership both in the EU and globally.
Finally, the Transversal Pillar includes all the activities dedicated to management and communication, as well as enhancing collaboration and integrating data and tools from various projects and complementary initiatives.
