Kostas Stefanidis is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology in Greece. He got his PhD in personalized data management from the Computer Science Department of the University of Ioannina, Greece, in 2009. He obtained his MSc and BSc degrees from the same university in 2005 and 2003, respectively. His research interests lie in the intersection of databases, web and information retrieval, and include personalized and context-aware data management systems, recommender systems, keyword-based search, user modeling, information extraction, resolution and integration, and social media. Kostas has served as a reviewer in the board of several journals, including IEEE TKDE, Elsevier IS, Elsevier JWS, and as a PC member in various conferences and workshops. | |

Vasilis Efthymiou is a PhD student at the University of Crete under the supervision of Vassilis Christophides, and a member of the Information Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH. The topic of his PhD research is entity resolution in the Web of data. He got his MSc and BSc degrees from the same university in 2012 and 2010, respectively. He has received undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships from FORTH, working in the areas of Semantic Web, non-monotonic reasoning, and Ambient Intelligence. | |

Melanie Herschel is an associate professor at the University of Paris South and member of the Inria Oak team. After graduating from the University of Cooperative Education Stuttgart in 2003, she performed research on entity resolution at the Humboldt-University of Berlin and at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam. She completed her PhD in 2007, covering both hierarchical and graph entity resolution techniques. From 2008 to 2009, she worked on linking and integrating government data as well as on data provenance at the IBM Almaden Research Center, research lines she pursued from 2009 to 2011 at the University of Tübingen. In her current position, she now focuses on data provenance and large scale Web data management. Melanie has served as a PC member for various international conferences (SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE) and is a referee for several journals including ACM TODS, VLDB Journal, or IEEE TKDE. She has also co-organized international workshops and has co-authored a book on entity resolution. | |

Vassilis Christophides is Professor of Computer Science at the University of Crete. He studied electrical engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, July 1988, he received his DEA in computer science from the University PARIS VI, June 1992, and his PhD from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers (CNAM) of Paris, France, October 1996. His main research interests include (a) Databases and Web Information Systems, (b) Digital Libraries and Digital Preservation and (c) Scientific Systems. He has extensive experience in the scientific coordination of research projects at the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH. He has published over 120 articles in high-quality international conferences, workshops and journals. He has received the 2004 SIGMOD Test of Time Award and the Best Paper Award at the 2nd and 6th International Semantic Web Conference in 2003 & 2007. He will be the General Chair of the upcoming join EDBT/ICDT Conference in 2014 at Athens. | |
